REGULATION AND RULES

STATUS

The International Festival of Wind Orchestras “Diko Iliev” is a traditional cultural event at the Municipality of Montana.

 

GOALS

- The Festival contributes for saving the rich traditions of Wind Orchestras in the region and in the country.

- The Festival popularizes the music heritage of the famous Bulgarian composer Diko Iliev in the country and abroad.

- The Festival enriches and lends variety to the culture of the town and the municipality.

- The Festival stimulates the international couture exchange and cooperation.

- The event contributes for developing the festival tourism.

 

PERIOD AND TIME OF THE ORGANIZING OF THE FESTIVAL

- The Festival is presented every 2 years sometime in the period of time, defined by the Municipality of Montana. The next edition will be held between 31st May and 2nd June 2024 (date of arrival for foreign bands – 30th May, date of departure – 3th June 2024).

 
ORGANIZER

- The Municipality of Montana organises the Festival.

- The Minister of culture of the Republic of Bulgaria is the patron of the Festival.

 

FINANCING
The festival is funded by the Municipality of Montana, sponsors and other sources (programs and projects). The organizers are providing for participants:
- Hotel “Zhitomir” **** accommodations (2 beds in the room).
- Meals (3 times daily) in the restaurant of the same hotel
- an excursion to the landmarks of the region for the foreign participants.
- Transport from Sofia Airport to Montana and back (for groups arriving by plane) and during the festival.

The responsibility of the guest’s group is:
- travel costs;
- visa costs (if necessary);
- medical insurance.

 

REGULATIONS AND CLAUSES FOR PARTICIPATING

Professional and amateur brass orchestras and majorette groups can participate in the Festival without age restrictions.

The order of participation depends on the variety of their music repertoire. The organising committee enlists the orchestras and is responsible about sequence of the whole program of the Festival.

Every orchestra have to include in its music repertoire and perform in the festival program one of art works by Diko Iliev and a work by a contemporary Bulgarian composer. The organising committee will provide the musical compositions of the works by Diko Iliev or by a contemporary Bulgarian composer to the participants if it is requested.

The participants should prepare the music program with the duration defined by the organizer – Municipality of Montana.

The Festival does not have a competitive character.

The organizing committee presents participating orchestras with a plaque and a honorary diploma.

 

APPLICATION

The brass bands, which have an intention of participating, should fill in the enclosed application form and send it to the organising committee till the dead-line, defined of the organizer. The description must contain:

— The full name of the orchestra/ majorettes group;

— The art achievements and prices won by the orchestra and/or majorettes group;

— The name of the conductor of the orchestra/ art manager of / majorettes group, contact information – phone number, e-mail;

— Repertoire (short description and the duration) of each work included in the program;

— Number of participants /including the orchestra and official persons, leaders, interpreters e.t.a. /

— Recent photos of the orchestra.
